Salisbury, N.C.- The Livingstone College women's basketball team fought hard but came up short, losing to Virginia Union 79-73. After trailing by 7 points at the end of the third quarter, Livingstone made an impressive comeback in the fourth, cutting the deficit to just 2 points with 4:50 remaining. However, Virginia Union managed to hold on for the win in a tightly contested finish.
Morgan Kelson led the charge for Livingstone, scoring a team-high of 19 points, and adding 8 rebounds,1 steal and assist.
Thalia Carter also contributed significantly with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Bria Griffith added 7 points and 4 assists, while
Boston Bates chipped in 7 points and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes.
Samiyah Briggs played a solid 22 minutes, finishing with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists.
Nielle Reaves came off the bench to score 10 points, helping to keep Livingstone within striking distance in the latter stages of the game.
The Lady Blue Bears look to bounce back on Thursday, Dec 18, against Bowie at 5:30 p.m.
