WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team fell to Winston-Salem State University for the second time this season, Saturday afternoon in Lawrence Joel Coliseum, 62-42.
The Blue Bears finish the regular season (11-17,5-11), and The Rams end the regular season (15-9,11-5).
Sha'Terra Ferrell led the Blue Bears with 10 points.
The Rams Hadiya Balser led with 15 points. Amaya Tucker and Prophet Sheffield followed with 10 points.
Livingstone shot 25.9% from the field (15-58) and 55.6% from the free-throw line (10-18).
The Blue Bears return to action Tuesday, February 21, as they travel to Baltimore, Maryland for the CIAA basketball tournament. Livingstone is scheduled to play Virginia State University at 4:30 p.m. in CFG Bank Arena.
The Rams took an early 13-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Bears still couldn't find their rhythm, allowing the Rams to hold a 29-14 lead at the half.
The Blue Bears started the third quarter by cutting the Rams lead with a layup by Sha'Terra Ferrell. Hadiya Balser put the Rams up by 20 at the end of the third quarter. The Blue Bears were outscored in the third quarter 13-8, giving the Rams the lead by the end of the third quarter, 42-22.
The Blue Bears and the Rams scored an even fourth quarter but it wasn't enough to put the Blue Bears on top.
The Blue Bears ended the night with 17 bench points versus the Rams 20. The Blue Bears got outworked in the paint with 24 points in the paint versus the Rams 28.
Winston-Salem State outrebounded Livingstone 46-36.
