SALEM, Virginia – The Livingstone College women's cross country team recorded a seventh-place finish in the team standings while the men placed ninth Thursday afternoon in the 2022 CIAA Cross Country Championships at Green Hill Park.
Fayetteville State University was first in the women's 5K competition, as the Broncos had five runners finish in the Top 15.Nia Gibson (3rd place, 19:36.8) joined Repline Cheptoo (5th place, 19:49.1), Brenda Cheboi (7th place, 19:55.7), Mercy Chemutai (9th place, 20:14.2), Aaliyah Saunders (15th place, 20:55.4) in the Top 15.
The Blue Bears had one runner to finish in the Top 15. Sydney McDonald (13th place, 20:42.8) made All-CIAA. Mcdonald recorded yet another personal record in her final race of the season.
Fayetteville State University was first in the men's 8K competition, as the Broncos had four runners finish in the Top 15. Hillary Toroitch (1st place, 24:54.0) joined Derrick Kipchumba (2nd place, 24:55.7), Abel Mengich (3rd place, 26:53.3), and Brian Kiptanui (9th place, 28:23.4) in the Top 15.
