Livingstone Athletics has named
Ria Sweeney as the new head coach of the Blue Bears bowling program. Sweeney, a graduate of Livingstone, competed as a bowler during the 2006-2009 seasons. Sweeney is also the Director of TRiO student support services and serves as the Title XI Coordinator for Livingstone College. Prior to her current post at Livingstone, Sweeney served as an academic coordinator for the TRiO program at Florida State's Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) program. Sweeney brings over 20 years of competitive bowling experience to the program. The three-time All-CIAA performer served as captain of the bowling team and won Athlete of the Year; she was the first Blue Bear bowler to earn the honor. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Sweeney earned a bachlor's degree in business administration from Livingstone College and earned a master's degree in college counseling/student development form Azusa Pacific University. The 2010 alumna is a member of the Sigma Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
