Lady Blue Bears fall in overtime to Elizabeth City State

LC suffers 81-80 loss

Despite a double-double performance by Daisa Harris (28 pts, 10 rebs) with help from Daijah Turner (18 pts) and Victoria Onozie (11 pts), Livingstone women;s basketball dropped an 81-80 overtime decision to Elizabeth City State's Lady Vikings inside the R.V. Vaughan Center Thursday evening (Jan 9).

Livingstone got off to a cold start falling behind 7-0 in the first period.  Turner broke the drought with a made three-point basketball with 8:18 left. Darra Walker dropped another trey to cut the early deficit to one point.

Both teams combined for 48 points in the first quarter with LC holding a two point lead (25-23) at the end of the first stanza.

The second quarter was half as productive with both teams scoring 12 points each and Livingstone holding a 37-35 lead at halftime.

The game featured eight lead changes and ended regulation play, tied at 74-74.

ECSU took advantage of a strong inside game to take control in overtime and capture an 81-80 decision.

With the loss, LC falls to 5-8, CIAA: 3-4, ECSU improves to 7-8, CIAA: 3-2

Livingstone continues its extended road trip when they travel to Raleigh to face St. Augustine's on Monday (Jan 13) and Shaw University on Wednesday (Jan 15).

Tipoff for both games is 5:30 p.m.
