Fayetteville gets by LC, 6-1 in Tennis

FAYETTEVILLE - Livingstone College falls to Fayetteville State 6-1, in women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon in CIAA Southern Division action on the Capel Arena tennis courts.
 
The Broncos improved to 6-6 overall and 5-4 in the conference standings. Livingstone slips to 0-11 on the season and is 0-8 in conference play.
 
LC fell in all three doubles matches as Mariah Mason and Maggie Henderson battled with Kayla Williams and Arnisha Cosby falling 7-5.  Brianna Hunter and Samone Mitchell loss 6-1 to Jayla Wooten and Kristin Jackson. The No. 3 doubles Serenia Murdaugh and Jamyse Bell fell 6-0 to Amber Gladden and Lauryn Clark.
 
The Broncos won five-out-of-six matches in singles play. Henderson loss 6-4 in the No. 1 match to Jackson.
 
Mason loss twice with the score of 6-0 at No. 2 to Cosby and Zyaja Mattocks won at No. 6. In the No. 4 singles match, Clark defeated Hunter 6-0 and 6-1 while Wooten won against Bell on the No. 5.
 
Samone Mitchell and Kayla Williams went the distance against but suffered the loss (6-2, 4-6, and 8-10) in the No. 3 singles match.
