Livingstone women's basketball broke a three-game losing streak with its best defensive performance of the season as they defeated Shaw University 64-49 inside New Trent Gymnasium Thursday evening.
Georgia Campbell (18 pts), Daisa Harris (16 pts) and Daijah Turner (14 pts) led the Lady Blue Bears in scoring. Turner pulled down 10 rebounds to complete her first double-double of the season.
LC's defense held an opponent to less than 50 points for the first time this season thanks to 16 Shaw turnovers that led to ten Livingstone points and a positive end to the 2019 portion of the new season.
The victory helps LC improve to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in CIAA conference play. and 1-1 in the southern division
Shaw falls to 3-7 overall 0-3 in conference play and 0-1 in the southern division.
LC will now take a break for the holidays and return to action on Saturday, Jan. 4 when they begin a five-game road trip at Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.
Livingstone will return home on January 18 when they host Johnson C. Smith. Tip off is set for 2:00 p.m.
