Bowie State uses late run to top Livingstone in Women's Basketball, 49-40

BOWIE - Livingstone's College women's basketball team took Bowie State down to the wire but the Lady Bulldogs free throws sealed it in the end as Bowie defeated Livingstone 49-40 on Monday night.

In the final quarter, Livingstone's Dasia Harris was responsible for a quick six-point spurt, cutting the Bowie State lead to 31-29 heading into the fourth.

Bowie State slowly pulled away midway in the fourth when Bowie hit back to back shots to take a 41-33 lead and never allowed the Lady Blue Bears any closer than six points the rest of the game.

The Bulldogs held the Lady Blue Bears to just one point over the final 3:04.

The Lady Blue Bears shot 24.2 percent from the field and went 2-for-20 from behind the 3-point line.

Harris scored 15 points for the Blue Bears but was 7-for-28 from the field.

Asia Green had an efficient 11 points and seven boards. Kyala Searcy grabbed nine rebounds on the night.

The Bulldogs improve to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the CIAA, while the Lady Blue Bears fall to 3-10 and 0-3 in the CIAA.

Livingstone will be home for the next three games hosting Elizabeth City on Thursday, January 10, followed by a Saturday, January 12 tilt with the Trojans of Virginia State and will wrap up the northern division opponents with Chowan on Monday, January 14.
