LC To Host "Blackout New Trent"
SALISBURY – The Livingstone College men's and women's basketball team is set to host "Blackout New Trent" as the Blue Bears host rival Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday, Feb. 17 in the William J. Trent Gymnasium. Tip-off is 2 p.m. for the women's game followed by the men.
The Lady Blue Bears enters Saturday's contest after falling to Fayetteville State, 91-59, Saturday afternoon night at New Trent Gym. FSU went on a 10-0 run over the Lady Blue Bears. Fayetteville State continued to dominate the game. FSU led by as much as 32 points before the game ended.
With the loss Livingstone drops to 6-17 overall and 1-12 in the CIAA.
Chowan downed visiting Johnson C. Smith University in women's basketball play 68-54 on Monday night at the Helms Center in Murfreesboro. Asha Jordan scored a team-high 18 points and Monique Hall added 15. The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 15-9 overall and 7-6 in CIAA play.
The Blue Bears (8-12, 6-7) enters Saturday's contest after falling to No. 11 Morehouse 77-53 this past Tuesday on the road. As a team, the Blue Bears average 71.4 points per contest; while shooting .431 percent from the field, .346 percent from behind the arc, and .652 percent from the line.
The Golden Bulls (17-8; 10-3) fell to Chowan 82-81, snapping the Golden Bulls' school record, nine-game winning streak on Monday night at the Helms Center in Murfreesboro, N.C. Robert Davis led JCSU with 23 points
As a team, JCSU shot 49.2% from the floor and 30.4% from long range. JCSU also managed a 66.7% effort from the line in the loss.
