Women's Basketball Thumps Morris 90-57 in Home Opener

SALISBURY – The Livingstone College women's basketball team forced 38 turnovers and scored 30 points off those miscues in a 90-57 thumping of visiting Morris in non-conference action in New Trent Gym on Wednesday night.

The Lady Blue Bears (1-2) came out the gate when Darra Walker dropped a three pointer from the corner and Livingstone never trailed in the game. LC would push the lead to 10 points at 16-6 following a layup in traffic Dasia Harris at the 3:52 mark. The lead would balloon to as many as 16 points (23-7) until a layup from Morris cut the LC lead to 26-9 at the end of the quarter.

Morris would trim the LC lead to as few as 10 points (37-27) with 2:38 before the halftime break, but LC rebounded to go up 45-29 at the recess.

Following the break, the LC offense exploded, outscoring the Hornets 24-6 in the third stanza to take the 69-35 lead.

The Lady Blue Bears would go up by as many as 36 points (82-46) following an Daisa Harris layup at the 3:39 mark and the Hornets would never get closer than 29 points the rest of the way, as LC rolled to the 90-57 win.


Four LC players scored in double-figures, with Daisa Harris leading the way with a game-high 34 points. Harris finished 12-of-26 from the field, 1-of-4 from three-point range and 9-of-11 from the line.

Teammate Darra Walker had 14 points and four steals while Asia Green and Kedra Bradley each chipped in 11 points.  The Lady Blue Bears finished 31-of-78 from the field (39.8%) while limiting Morris to a 41% (24-of-58) outing.

The Hornets (0-1) had only three player score in double-figures.
