James Fakunle

James Fakunle joined Livingstone's athletics staff as an assistant horizontal jumps coach in August 2015. His coaching experience began in 2004 as he became the assistant coach of the North Alabama Trackers track and field club, where has produced top finishers at USATF state and national meets. In 2013, he became the assistant boys and girls Track and Field coach of Florence High School.


After one year he was promoted to Head Coach for both the boys and girls track and field team. The Florence Falcons sent multiple contestants to Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) championships under Fakunle’s tutelage.

A prominent figure in the Alabama USATF track and field community, Fakunle served as the Men and Women’s Track and Field Committee chair of the Alabama USA Track & Field (USATF) in 2014 & 2016. Fakunle is a certified by USATF organization as a Level I coach with specialties in youth and jumps.

James Fakunle is a native of Florence, Alabama. He attended Bradshaw High School as well as ran with the summer track club, the North Alabama Trackers as a hurdler and jumper. He earned an athletic scholarship to NCAA Division I Alabama State University. After transferring to the University of North Alabama, he graduated in 2007 with his bachelor’s degree and completed his master’s degree from University of South Florida in 2012.
