Darius Bryson

Darius Bryson is entering his 4th season as a volunteer assistant coach for Livingstone College Track and Field program. This is his 3rd season being in charge of coaching the short sprinters and the sprint relays.  In 2019 he help guide freshman Cameron Cunningham in qualifying for the conference finals in the 60 meter dash indoors and the 100 meter dash outdoors.  The men’s and the women’s 4x100 relays showed great improvement between 2018-2019 season.
 
From 2008 – 2017, Bryson was the head coach at three different high schools (Salisbury, Concord, and Vance). Some of the highlights of his time coaching in high school was back to back State Championships while at Salisbury High. Coached the two time state championship meet MVP in Romar Morris. Morris also finished 8th at Nationals when he was a junior.  While at Concord High, Bryson was in charge of a program that saw 10 school records broken in a four year span and he produced numerous regional and state meet qualifiers.  While he only spent one year at Vance High School, their regional qualifying numbers jumped from two to fifteen participants and state qualifiers went from one to five. He also wrote the running workouts for the school record holder in the triple jump.
 
Bryson attended Western Carolina University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in physical education. Bryson was also an all-conference sprinter for the Catamounts. After graduating he became a graduate assistant for three years under Danny Williamson and helped coach the sprinters and relays. While in the capacity of graduate assistant coach, Bryson helped the Catamounts win three conference championships, produce numerous regional qualifiers and had a 4 x 100 meter relay team finish 9th at NCAA Nationals.
 
Bryson holds a Level I & II USATF certification in sprints, hurdles, and relays.
